Know your numbers - When I was a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley I once asked a colleague how his month closed out because we worked on commission based on our asset under management at the end of the month. He replied it was good...but it could always be better. There's always more money to be made. I replied...well I don't know if that is true for me. I have my number once I hit it. I'm at peace and I go do something meaningful. He said you do...how do you stop yourself from wanting more. I said I don't stop myself from wanting more I give myself permission to be grateful for what I have.
