Takeaways:

What is your idea of prosperity?

  • Sean says his idea of prosperity is “doing something that you love on a daily basis and being able to monetize that in a way that provides you with a lifestyle that you want. “
  • By doing something you love it grants you the opportunity to turn your money into meaning.
  • Most people believe you either have to choose between something you love and financial security to provide income but in all actuality, by turning your money into meaning you're able to do what you love and still generate income.

The fear of financial destitution

  • From a very young age people get conditioned that they have to follow a structured path society has laid out for them in order to meet success (i.e. school, university, work force)
  • These people are also taught under authoritative figures in order to meet these requirements most people go from parents, teachers, professors to bosses who have these set rules and guidelines that if you don't follow this path the big scary poverty monster will eat you.
  • These people are also taught that if they don't follow these guidelines they wont be loved which is adequate in understanding most people who grow up in toxic home environments often enter toxic work environments.
  • Because of this people learn to follow this structured path leading to misery because they are too afraid to branch out and do what they love whilst turning their money into meaning.
  • Conditioned fear leads most people into doing best they can whilst believing it can be any better.
  • 15% of people actually love their job .

Developmental struggles

  • Developmental trauma disorder primarily happens when there is a lot of role reversal, toxicity, neglect, etc in early homelife.
  • This then develops paranoia and enables certain developmental characteristics such as the desire for safety and security making someone believe they’re the problem.
  • This affects how people learn to show up in the world hence the reason most people end up in a toxic work environment after a toxic home environment.

Seans’s Turnaround

  • Though Sean didn’t grow up in a toxic home environment a lot of what he learned came from working with clients.
  • Growing up he was conflicted in knowing if he was going to be financially successful or happy.
  • Freelancing was one of his biggest sources of income and after the biggest freelancer employer brought him on full time (financing) he got a push to do what he loved most.
  • Through this journey Sean soon became burned out because his boss not only suffered from bipolar disorder but he soon realized he wasn't doing anything that genuinely fulfilled him.
  • Sean never believed he had to choose between happiness and being broke which brought on depression and suicidal thoughts.
  • Sean pushed himself into believing he could figure something out and he did with
  • Sean figured that the best lifestyle/highest award would be to be a coach but needed hardwork to align himself where he wanted to be.
  • Finding purpose and building a career around it is the goal anyone should have.

 Emotional turmoil

  • During bad times it’s hard to have faith or even see the light at the end of the tunnel.
  • But having a glenmor of hope can help you to push and prevail

Change isn’t always a swift shift

  • Most people believe the first couple months money just showers in and that isnt always the case.
  • The first six months of change Sean used his savings to help assist and fund his new business but when his savings ran out and he wasn’t bringing in a lot of cliential he sought help.
  • He began to learn the skill of marketing from various people and programs.
  • He started spending money on ads, coaching and marketing but his six months to two years was a rough challenge financially and mentally but ended up paying off.
  • “It's never going to be easy but it's always going to be worth it.

The law of attraction/NLP

  • There are two portions of Sean’s program:
  • The external journey which focuses on freelance, how to get the green job , how to build a business, etc.
  • Whilst internal work focuses on traditional psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, spirituality and positive psychology school (law of attraction).
  • The NLP school by Tony robinson
  • Psychohacking - which is a method Sean uses for his clients suppresses it into sufficient timeline so you can do what takes 10 to twenty years in a matter of months.
  • Resolving stress & disidentification are key assets to helping your clients, knowing you're not your thoughts all while rewiring tricks of the mind ( ezoteric methodologies)

Resistance

  • Confusion comes from the therapist not articulating what needs to be done successfully , in most cases it happens when a therapist does not have a successful system.
  • However, for resistance you can’t want it more than the client, this builds resistance for the client.
  • Creating a defined system that you want your clients to follow religiously adds order to the end goal.
  • Confusion is on the coach but resistance is on the client.
  • Sean says he created supplemental training steps to help with resistance .
  • Tell clients upfront - it will be hard.
  • Valence - contribute money u desperately want it
  • Instrumentality - believing in system/coach
  • Expectancy - don't believe in selves

Best advice received or wished would have told you

  • Best business advice was that empathy was a superpower when it comes to sales and marketing, most people go in speaking to clients as if they were speaking to themselves when in reality there is a difference and way broader spectrum.
  • “The walls you're putting up to keep out the people who hurt you in the past are the same walls that are keeping you from people who can truly help you.”
